Elementary Lead Teacher - Jacksonville Beach. 
 
Permanent, full-time.  Teaches at the primary school level in Montessori and IB instructional programs.  Utilize assessment tools/strategies including continuums of development, DIBELS, MAP, and portfolios.  Organizes and administers the athletic program of in-house athletic enrichments; prepares and administers the athletic budget. 
 
Requirements: 12 month experience as an elementary or primary school teacher; bachelor’s degree in education, primary education, or equivalent; AMS Elementary Lead Teacher Credentialing; IBO-Primary Years Training.

Substitute Teachers Needed

Substitute Teachers (all levels) - Jacksonville Beach. 
 
The Discovery School Substitute Teacher understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, core values, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Substitute assists the Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining the environment both in the classroom and on the playground / courtyard. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for supporting a classroom/instructional program that incorporates both Montessori and International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) methodologies (dependent on program level), while respecting the individual needs of the children in accordance with the school’s mission and vision.

Qualifications

  • Has bachelor's degree (or higher) plus experience in education 
  • Professional Teacher Certification or Montessori Credential a PLUS
  • A genuine love of children.
  • Has working knowledge of achievement, aptitude, and diagnostic testing of students.

Toddler Lead Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a 10-month position following the school year calendar, inclusive of teacher work weeks and professional development pursuits. Technological proficiency with Mac hardware/software, and competency with electronic communication methods is a requirement for the fulfillment of this job description.
 
Qualifications 1. A Bachelor's degree and a Montessori Infant/Toddler Credential required. 2. A Master's degree and teaching experience desired. 3. Demonstrated success motivating and supporting students in an open-ended progressive school environment is essential. 4. An interest in and willingness to work closely with community members (colleagues and families), in a professional independent school setting. 5. The following characteristics are also desirable: love of children, warm, extroverted, highly sociable, trusting, tactful, original thinker, imaginative, comfortable with change, able to manage conflict with calm, organized, driven, collaborative, excellent communicator, strategically minded, team oriented and highly ethical.
 
Summary of Position: The Discovery School Lead Teacher understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, core values, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The teacher is responsible for providing a Montessori classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of the children in accordance with the school’s mission and vision. The Lead Teacher works collaboratively and communicates effectively with administration on all aspects of the program to maintain congruency between their program level and the Board-approved mission. The Lead Teacher is also accountable for regularly evaluating the program to ensure the social, emotional and academic needs of children are met according to FKC, FCIS, AMS and state licensing standards. The Lead Teacher is professionally responsible for implementing best practice based on current research in the field of education.

This will include, but is not limited to, standing, bending at the waist, kneeling, sitting on the floor and lifting.
 
Normal Hours: 1. Monday thru Friday that school is in session 8:00 am – 4:00 pm 2. Other hours as required and deemed necessary by the Head of School.
